Seamless import of existing resumes and automatic cloud backup of tailored PDF applications.

Applivo × Google Drive Integration Hero

Overview

Google Drive is the world's most ubiquitous cloud storage platform. Applivo's Google Drive integration gives candidates a seamless two-way bridge for career documents: importing master CVs directly into your Applivo vault with zero local file juggling, and automatically saving role-tailored PDF resumes back to an 'Applivo Resumes' folder in your personal Drive.

Designed with strict least-privilege security, the integration uses Google's narrowest drive.file OAuth scope, ensuring Applivo can only access files opened through the Google Picker or created directly by the application.

Configuration

Connecting Google Drive requires user authorization via standard OAuth 2.0:

  1. Navigate to Dashboard → Connections in Applivo.
  2. Locate Google Drive under Files and documents.
  3. Click Connect. You are redirected to Google's official OAuth authorization screen.
  4. Sign into your Google Account and select your profile.
  5. Review the permissions: 'See, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app'.
  6. Click Allow. Google redirects back to Applivo's callback endpoint (GET /api/integrations/google_drive/callback).
  7. Applivo exchanges the authorization code, encrypts your refresh token with AES-256-GCM, and marks the connection Active.

How it works

The Google Drive service (app/services/integrations/google_drive.py) coordinates two document workflows:

  • Resume Import: In the Resume Vault, clicking 'Import from Drive' launches the client-side Google Picker API. When you select a document, Google returns a temporary file token. Applivo fetches the file stream, validates format (PDF/DOCX) and file size (under 10MB), and passes it to the resume parsing engine.
  • Tailored Export: When you generate a role-specific resume or complete an application run, Applivo can automatically upload the compiled PDF back to your Drive inside a dedicated 'Applivo Resumes' folder, organizing tailored resumes by company and job title.
  • Token Refresh: Access tokens expire after 60 minutes. When an operation is initiated, Applivo automatically refreshes expired tokens using Google's token endpoint without requiring manual re-authentication.

Available features

  • Interactive file picker supporting instant import of PDF and DOCX master resumes.
  • Automatic generation and organization of an 'Applivo Resumes' cloud folder.
  • One-click export of AI-tailored PDF resumes directly to your Drive.
  • Strict least-privilege drive.file scope preventing access to personal files.
  • Encrypted refresh token persistence with automated token renewal.

Permissions and data access

Applivo enforces least privilege through Google's restricted scope model:

Frequently asked questions

Can Applivo read my other documents in Drive?

No. The drive.file scope explicitly restricts Applivo to files created by Applivo or selected via Google's official file picker.

What happens if I disconnect Google Drive?

Stored tokens are immediately wiped from Applivo's database. Resumes already imported remain safely in your Applivo vault until you choose to delete them.
