Overview

Slack is the primary communication operating system for modern engineering teams. Applivo's Slack integration delivers instantaneous, beautifully formatted notifications to your personal workspace or team channel whenever high-match jobs are discovered, application runs complete, or interview appointments are scheduled.

Configuration

Connecting Slack establishes OAuth incoming-webhook delivery:

Navigate to Dashboard → Connections.
Locate Slack under Notifications.
Click Connect to open Slack's official OAuth authorization window.
Select your target Slack workspace in the top-right corner.
Choose the channel (e.g. #job-alerts or direct message to yourself) where notifications should be posted.
Click Allow. Slack redirects to Applivo with an encrypted incoming webhook URL.
The Slack Config Modal opens. Toggle your preferred event subscriptions (Job Matches, Run Completions, Interviews, Follow-ups).
Click Send Test Notification to verify channel delivery.

How it works

The Slack provider (app/services/integrations/slack.py) processes events from the central dispatcher:

1. Event Emission: Backend services emit lifecycle events (application_run.completed, job.match_found, interview.scheduled).
2. Preference Evaluation: The dispatcher checks your configured per-event preferences stored in user_integrations.metadata_json.
3. Block Kit Formatting: Generates rich Slack Block Kit JSON cards with header badges, role summaries, compensation tags, and direct action buttons ('View Job', 'Open Dashboard').
4. Encrypted Dispatch: Posts the payload via HTTP POST to the candidate's AES-256-GCM encrypted incoming-webhook URL.

Permissions and data access

Requests incoming-webhook and chat:write scopes. Applivo cannot read channel history, inspect private messages, or access files in your Slack workspace.

Troubleshooting

Symptom	Likely Cause	Resolution

Frequently asked questions

Can notifications be sent to a private direct message?

Yes. When authorizing Slack, select 'Direct Messages → Your Name' as the posting destination.
