Overview

Gmail is the primary communication hub for job seekers and recruiters worldwide. Applivo's Gmail integration automates application tracking by detecting recruiter confirmations, rejection notices, and interview scheduling links directly from your inbox—keeping your job search pipeline continuously updated without manual spreadsheet entry.

Built with a privacy-first zero-storage architecture, Applivo processes only sender headers and interview links in ephemeral memory. Email bodies, personal messages, and attachments are never persisted to disk or databases.

Configuration

Connecting Gmail requires Google OAuth 2.0 authorization with restricted mail scopes:

Navigate to Dashboard → Connections.
Locate Gmail under Email and communication.
Review the CASA compliance notice regarding Google OAuth restricted scopes.
Click Connect to open Google's authorization screen.
Select your target Google Account and review permissions: 'View your email messages and settings' (read-only).
Click Allow. Google redirects back to Applivo's callback endpoint.
The connection activates with your registered Gmail address.

How it works

The email tracker service executes an automated pipeline:

1. Polling & Header Filtering: Periodically queries the Gmail API using query filters targeting known ATS domains (e.g. from:greenhouse.io, from:lever.co, from:internshala.com) and recruiter subject keywords ('application received', 'interview invitation', 'status update').
2. In-Memory Parsing: Evaluates message headers and structure in ephemeral memory to classify the application stage: Applied, Screening, Interview Scheduled, Offer, or Closed.
3. Pipeline Progression: Updates the corresponding application record in your Applivo tracker and presents the update for your confirmation.
4. Zero-Storage Policy: Raw email contents and attachments are never stored in Applivo's database.

Permissions and data access

Requests the restricted https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly scope. Access is read-only; Applivo cannot send emails, delete messages, or access personal correspondence.
